Driveway washing sends soap and grime straight to the storm drain. How our water reclamation system and biodegradable soaps make the professional wash the greener choice.

Here's something most drivers don't realize: washing your car in the driveway is usually the least environmentally friendly way to do it. At Ford Car Wash, sustainability is engineered into every wash — and it's one of the values we take most seriously.

The Problem With Driveway Washing

A garden hose flows freely the whole time you wash, and everything it rinses off — soap, oil residue, brake dust, road grime — runs straight down the storm drain and into local waterways, untreated. It's wasteful on both ends: more water in, dirtier water out.

How Our Water Reclamation System Works

Our tunnel is built around a water reclamation system. Instead of using fresh water for every stage, we capture, filter, and reuse water across the wash cycle. Reclaimed water handles the heavy-lifting stages of the wash, and fresh water is reserved for where it matters — like the final spot-free rinse. Every reclaimed gallon is a gallon that doesn't have to come from the tap.

And unlike a driveway wash, nothing runs off into the storm drain — wash water is captured and processed properly instead of flowing untreated into local waterways.

Biodegradable Soaps, Serious Clean

Eco-friendly doesn't mean weaker. Our cleaning products are biodegradable, formulated to break down safely after use while still cutting through road film, bugs, and winter salt. Combined with soft-touch washing, you get a clean that's tough on grime and gentle on everything else.

Efficiency Is Sustainability

Our 120-foot tunnel is designed to wash cars continuously and efficiently. High-efficiency nozzles put water exactly where it's needed, and the conveyor system means every car gets the same optimized cycle — no over-spraying, no waste. Getting you in and out quickly isn't just convenient; it's part of the efficiency story.

A Cleaner Car and a Cleaner Community

We've been part of Dearborn Heights for over 15 years, and keeping our corner of Michigan clean goes beyond the cars we wash. Choosing a professional wash with water reclamation over a driveway wash is one of the easiest green swaps a car owner can make — you get a better result, and the environment gets a break.
